Dave asked:

I heard it would be more beneficial to sell real estate before I retire as opposed to after. What do I stand to gain, or what do I stand to lose if I keep the property and sell it after I retire?

I’m filing form 1041 bankruptcy estate ch 7, should the accompanying 1040 be with my SS# or the assigned ID for the trust? The bankruptcy was created in 1999, I won an award in court in 2005, there were legal and accounting expenses and a huge tax liability. However I need to know how to include the money I lost on the project itself.

My father has just entered hospice. He has no real estate, no stocks or bonds, just a small checking & savings account. Is it still necessary to file an estate tax return after he passes?
